Consulting marketing website

Project: L&M Advisory Group website
Client: L&M Advisory Group (Change Management Consultants)
Role: Designer & WordPress developer
Launched: 2025

What I Did:

  • Designed and built a custom WordPress marketing site
  • Helped define the brand’s visual identity (colors + typography)
  • Guided messaging and content strategy
  • Built reusable Elementor templates for easy updates
  • Set up dynamic content for blog posts and services

Highlights

From zero to launch

The client came to me with no branding, content, or website. I guided them through defining their target audience, brand personality, and content approach from scratch.

Visual identity & design

Proposed color palettes, typography, and layout ideas that reflected their brand values. Created low-fidelity mockups and provided inspiration from similar sites.

Reusable templates

Built the site with Elementor Pro and set up dynamic templates for services and blog posts. The client can now expand the site easily without writing code.

Content strategy support

Helped the team brainstorm content using generative AI tools and provided feedback on messaging to keep it clear and client-focused.

Immediate results

After launch, L&M Advisory Group shared the site with their network and received a potential client inquiry in the first week.

How it informs my work today:

This project reminded me how many small businesses need both design guidance and tech support. I bring a collaborative, low-jargon approach to every project—so clients feel confident maintaining their site, and proud to share it.

Gritty, cinematic portfolio for a filmmaker

The client wanted a portfolio website that represented his style – edgy, neo noir, and gritty. I used his photography, neo-noir movie posters and David Lynch (his favorite film maker) as inspiration for his website. I had a lot of fun with it.

Client: James Callahan, film student specializing in screenwriting
Project type: Portfolio website
Platform: WordPress with Elementor Pro
Launched: 2024

The Goal

Create a bold, cinematic portfolio for a film student specializing in screenwriting. The client wanted the site to reflect his edgy, neo-noir aesthetic—drawing inspiration from his photography, neo-noir film posters, and his favorite director, David Lynch. The site needed to showcase his short films, photography, and writing samples while standing out to potential employers and internship programs.

Discovery & Collaboration

Since the client didn’t have designs in place, we started with exploratory meetings to get clear on his goals and personal style.

We discussed:

  • The tone and visual style he wanted to convey
  • Inspirations from David Lynch and neo-noir films
  • Sites he liked and disliked
  • What content he wanted to feature

Through our discussions, I developed a creative direction that leaned into moody visuals, dramatic typography, and cinematic color palettes.

Design decisions

To reflect the neo-noir, gritty aesthetic, I made the following choices:

  • Typography: Bold sans-serif main headlines, paired with scripty accent headings and Courier for a screenwriter feel
  • Colors: Dark forest image as a moody background, with a rich midnight purple base and neon pink/blue accent colors
  • Layout: Right-aligned main headings for an edgy, off-balance vibe
  • Creative touches: Overlapping section headings that “bled” into the next section for a layered, mysterious feel

Outcome & client response

The client loved how the dark forest background and bold typography captured his creative voice. He was especially drawn to the use of color and the cinematic tone of the design. After launch, he used the site in internship applications and now has a professional platform to share his growing body of work.

What I loved

This project was a creative playground. I enjoyed experimenting with moody palettes, offbeat layouts, and visual references pulled straight from the noir world. It reminded me how powerful it can be to design for a strong personal aesthetic, and how WordPress can be customized to feel like an art piece, not just a website.

Google Store & Nest marketing sites

Role: UX Engineer
Company: Google
Duration: 2016–2023
Focus: Design systems, marketing campaigns, accessibility, and front-end development

Overview

Before launching Pixeljo, I spent seven years as a UX engineer at Google, specializing in building and scaling high-impact marketing websites. I collaborated with designers, developers, and marketers to create responsive, accessible, and high-performing experiences that supported global product launches and seasonal campaigns. My work on the Google Store and Nest marketing sites gave me a deep understanding of what makes a website not just beautiful—but functional, accessible, and conversion-driven.

Key Contributions

Design system development

I identified the need for a design system for the Google Store (store.google.com) and led its development from the ground up. Working with designers, engineers, and program managers, I helped create a robust library of reusable components and templates that brought consistency and efficiency to the entire e-commerce experience. I also built a living style guide—a custom web app that made it easy for teams to implement design system standards.

High-impact campaigns

Led front-end development for the 2019 Black Friday campaign, which outperformed forecasts by 2–3x for Pixel and Nest products. I developed a reusable promotional template and worked cross-functionally to resolve design and implementation issues quickly under a tight four-week deadline.

Accessibility advocate

From color contrast to keyboard navigation, I worked to ensure the Google Store was accessible to all users. I reviewed code for accessibility issues, provided feedback to peers, and updated reusable components to follow best practices for screen readers and semantic HTML.

Creative front-end work

At Nest, I built responsive, localized marketing pages and worked with design and marketing teams on seasonal product launches. I led efforts to add animation to campaigns—prototyping and building motion elements that aligned with brand and UX goals.

Why it matters

My experience at Google taught me the value of thoughtful, user-centered development. I bring big-picture thinking, a detail-oriented mindset, and an understanding of what drives results. Whether you’re launching a new business or refreshing your online presence, I’ll apply the same strategic, collaborative approach I used at Google—tailored to your needs.

Art & Design

My background in art and design brings a creative edge to every website I create. With an eye for aesthetics, composition, and visual storytelling, I design websites that are not only functional but also visually compelling. I draw on my artistic experience to craft layouts that balance color, typography, and imagery, ensuring every element works harmoniously to reflect your brand.

This foundation helps me create websites that:

  • Engage users through thoughtful, visually appealing designs.
  • Communicate your story with clarity and creativity.
  • Stand out with designs that feel polished and unique.

By blending artistic creativity with web design expertise, I ensure each project is as visually dynamic as it is strategic.

My photography experience brings a unique perspective to website design by emphasizing visual storytelling and the power of imagery. Understanding composition, lighting, and balance allows me to select and integrate visuals that elevate the look and feel of your site while aligning perfectly with your brand.

This expertise enables me to:

  • Curate impactful visuals that draw attention and evoke emotion.
  • Optimize image placement for engaging, user-friendly layouts.
  • Enhance brand storytelling through carefully selected or original photography.

By blending photography skills with web design, I create websites that are not only functional but visually striking, leaving a lasting impression on your audience.
